By the year 2050, nearly 80% of the earth’s population will reside in urban centers. Applying the most conservative estimates to current demographic trends, the human population will increase by about 3 billion people making a total of 10 billion. Most fresh produce consumed is brought in from other countries and fields thousands of kilometers away. At present, throughout the world, over 80 % of the land that is suitable for raising crops is in use.
The concept of indoor gardening is not new, since hot-house production of tomatoes, a wide variety of herbs, and other produce has been in vogue for some time. What is new is the urgent need to scale up this technology to accommodate 10 billion people. An entirely new approach to indoor gardening must be invented, employing cutting edge technologies. The urban farm must be efficient and cheap to construct and safe to operate. If successfully implemented, they offer the promise of urban renewal, sustainable production of a safe and varied food supply of year-round crop production, and the eventful repair of ecosystems that have been sacrificed for traditional farming.
Cyberponics Inc. has designed an indoor-outdoor hydroponic gardening system built around a combination of cutting edge ideas, innovation and a highly successful management team. The project aim is to carry advanced technology in hydroponic growing. It is committed to the improvement of urban renewal and quality of life and will provide education, experience and research in the hydroponics field. Cyberponics Inc. will manufacture a cutting edge hydroponic system and supply it to the growing demand of urban gardeners in the North American and International markets.
